A German closed-end fund has sold the La Defense office building in Almere to a listed real estate investor. The building at the W. Dreesweg 16 is conveniently located in Almere-Stad near the Almere Centrum railway station. La Defense, known for its characteristic shapes and colorful facades, is a development from 2005 after a design by UN Studios.

La Défense is located at the Willem Dreesweg 14-24 (a 5 minutes walk from Almere Central Station). It's advisable to visit La Défense during office hours, because when the offices in La Defense are closed, the gates are locked, hence hiding the magnificent inner area from view. And this is precisely the most spectacular part of La Défense!

UNstudio designed the La Defense office building for Eurocommerce in Almere. The boring grey aluminum exterior of the outskirts of the complex give way to a brilliantly colored canyon that twists its way through the center of the building. The color in this inner court is rendered by sunlight hitting a foil that was designed for perfume bottles.

It has intrigued me for quite some time, so of course when we were in Almere, I had to pay a visit to this complex.
